Welcome to Edenderry Community First Responders
What We Do
All our responders are volunteers, who are on call 24/7 365 days a year. We respond to a variety of calls as directed by the National Ambulance Service (NAS) to provide immediate care until an ambulance can arrive on scene.
Volunteer With Us
Edenderry CFR operates a 6km radius which incorporates approx 12,000 people. With over 20 members currently operating we are always looking for new responders.
If you are interested please message for information on how to apply.
Training
All our responders are trained to the highest standards with continued ongoing upskilling.
Members are all CFR-C certified through Irish Heart Foundation & PHECC.
About us
A vibrant Community looking after each other!
All our volunteers are members of the expanded Edenderry community, living & working in the area. The group operates to ensure that should a patient require immediate care our responders can be on the scene in 3-7 minutes with an AED.
Our principle activities are:
- Cardiac Arrest call outs
- Chest pain call outs
- Stroke call outs
- Choking call outs
- Improving Awareness by providing CPR/AED training to clubs & members of public
- Develop PAD (Public Access Defribrilator) network in area
Edenderry AED Locations
Edenderry CFR currently has 18 Public Access Defribrillators (PAD's) located in our coverage area. This network is constantly growing based on information that we gather and we continue to work with local community to ensure adequate coverage.
All of our PAD's are accessible 24/7 with code C0 to open.
Always ensure that if you find yourself in need of using an AED that you contact 999/112.
Stroke
If you suspect someone is having a stroke time is critical. Remember the acronym FAST. F - Face; Facial droop A - Arms; weakness in arms S - Speech; slurred speech T - Time; time to call 999/112Choking
Complete blockage of the airway which if not resolved can lead to respiratory arrest. The patient should be encouraged to try to cough while back slaps & abdominal thrusts are delivered to try relieve the blockageChest Pain
Central chest pain can be an indicator of a potential cardiac issue like a heart attack. A heart attack occurs due to a blockage. If this blockage is not resolved it can lead to heart muscle death & potentially progress to cardiac arrest.Cardiac Arrest
Cardiac arrest is the abrupt loss of heart function, breathing and consciousness. If this happens you should immediately call 999/112, get someone to get an AED & start CPR
